Vancouver, Port Townsend musicians featured at Northwind tonight

PORT TOWNSEND — The Northwind Arts Center will join Matt Miner Presents in welcoming Vancouver-based musician Dan Weber at 7 tonight with special guest Matt Sircely.

Advance tickets are $12 each at Northwind Arts Center or from webernorth wind.brownpapertickets.com or $15 at the door at 701 Water St.

Singer-songwriter Weber has been described as a classic mid-life overnight sensation after bursting onto the scene in 2010 to a standing ovation at the Sisters Folk Festival, organizers said.

Since then, he’s toured extensively, becoming a rare three-time finalist in the legendary Kerrville New Folk competition, had two top finishes in the Woody Guthrie songwriting contest and in 2015 won the Winfield, Kan., New Song contest for “Oh Woody,” his anthemic tribute to Woody Guthrie, which rose to number two on the folk charts that year.

Sircely is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist living in Port Townsend. Sircely is best known for his work as a founding member of Hot Club Sandwich, a Django-inspired ensemble in Seattle and a leading acoustic jazz band in the US for more than a decade.

Northwind Arts Center welcomes Matt Miner Presents as a new partner in presenting live acoustic music in Port Townsend.

MMP has been producing concerts in the Portland area for 12 years, specializing in presenting touring artists from across the country and around the world.
