Valentine’s Day celebrated all week

Valentine’s Day may be Tuesday, but celebrations are planned beginning today on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Here are events scheduled to commemorate a day set aside especially for love:

PORT ANGELES

Wine social

PORT ANGELES — Park View Villas will host a wine social from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

The social will feature chocolates, live music and wine donated by Hurricane Hills Winery of Port Angeles at Park View Villas, 1430 Park View Lane.

The villas also will offer a class about creating candles at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Participants can take their candles home, and the candlemaking might help relieve rheumatoid arthritis.

PORT TOWNSEND

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Library plans an open house on Valentine’s Day.

“Fall in Love with Your Library” will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the library at 1220 Lawrence St.

Crafts, live music and light refreshments are planned.

CLALLAM BAY

Valentine cards

CLALLAM BAY — The Clallam Bay Library invites the public to its 10th annual Valentine Card-Making Extravaganza during open hours through Tuesday.

The library branch at 16990 state Highway 112 is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their imaginations and make a handcrafted valentine for someone special.

The library will supply the paper, glitter, stickers, feathers, glue and other materials to help makers create original designs.

Valentine fundraiser

CLALLAM BAY — The Clallam Bay Library will host its fifth annual “After Hours @ the Library” valentine fundraiser from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Admission is free to the library at 16990 state Highway 112, although a donation of $5 is suggested.

Guests can listen to live music, eat savory snacks or buy a freshly made dessert from the dessert bar, try their luck at a Chinese auction featuring donations from area merchants or try to outbid their friends and neighbors during the silent auction. The Clallam Bay Friends of the Library will provide refreshments.

Proceeds from this fundraising event will help support programming at the library, including the annual Adult Summer Reading Program, Halloween pumpkin carving and other special presentations such as the “Food for Thought” series, as well as the Valentine Card-Making Extravaganza.

For more information about this and other upcoming programs, call 360-963-2414, send an email to ClallamBay@nols.org or visit www.nols.org.
