Uptown Street Fair to feature ‘grandly local’ parade, arts, crafts, music

PORT TOWNSEND — The 27th annual Uptown Street Fair will feature a “grandly local” parade, an arts and crafts fair, and seven musical acts — all before dinner Saturday.

The parade at 2 p.m. might be one of the “shortest and most colorful” parades in the Northwest, organizer Mari Mullen said. Events go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Lawrence and Tyler streets, which will be closed for the day.

The Jefferson County Farmers Market will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Polk Street.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Arts and Crafts Fair features work from local artists, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., children of all ages can participate in art activities.

Live music will fill about every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entertainers include Stars of Tomorrow winners Emilia Nunn and Forrest Brennan, the PT Summer Band, Steve Grandinetti, Happenstance, Anami, John Maxwell and Jon Parry, and Jim Nyby and the F Street Band.

If you wish to memorialize the moment, the Port Townsend Main Street Program invites you to take a family portrait at the fire bell tower. Community members should gather at 9:45 a.m. to be ready for the photo shoot at 10 a.m.

The town photo poster will be designed and printed almost immediately and sold for $10 each later in the afternoon. In addition to familiar faces, it will feature original art by Uptown artist Michael Hale.

Food vendors will cater the event, and Uptown Pub will host an outdoor beer garden.
