United Way to celebrate leaders with prom

PORT ANGELES — Tickets are available for the United Way of Clallam County’s annual Live United Prom and Awards Ceremony set from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 13.

In addition to celebrating the close of the organization’s yearly fundraising campaign, 13 community leaders will be honored with Live United Awards for their efforts in promoting a healthy and safe community.

A catered dinner, refreshments, two cash bars, a live D.J., prom photos and party favors are among the plans for the event at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Tickets are $80 for an individual and $150 for a couple. Tables of eight are $600 each.

“Live United Prom is an opportunity to relive the magic of prom — or experience it for the first time — as an adult,” said Development Director Jaycie Wakefield.

The theme is Under the Sea this year.

“This year we have a lot to celebrate,” said CEO Christy Smith. “We were able to not only designate funds to our 17 non-profit partners, but also award five selected nonprofits with larger impact funding to specifically support safe and affordable housing solutions, education and professional training and families.”

Sponsors include 7 Cedars; Lakeside Industries; Amy Matney Photography; Red Lion Hotel and 48° North, The Lodge at Sherwood Village; Danielle Rivers, Edward Jones Financial Advisor; Olympic Peninsula Stone; Vanessa Tobin Photography; So So Sweet by Ashley; Feiro Marine Life Center; City of Port Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation; Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce; Sky Island Party Rentals and Puget Sound Express.

Businesses interested in sponsoring can contact Wakefield at 360-457-3011 or jaycie@unitedway clallam.org.
