Ukulele trio to marry instruments, voices in Coyle concert

COYLE — If you have an ear for the ukulele, get yourself down to Coyle on Sunday for a trio performance featuring seasoned musicians and their ukes.

The Blue Janes will perform at 3 p.m. at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road.

Admission will be by donation, and complimentary cookies and coffee will be served at intermission.

The Blue Janes are musicians Jean Mann, Kathleen Tracy and Arni Adler.

On their website, they said they marry three ukuleles and their three voices for a delightful blend of humor and sweetness.

All three of the Janes are successful musicians doing other projects. Occasionally, they come together to share their love of the uke as a serious musical instrument, putting their voices together on their favorite songs.

Adler is a founding and current member of the trio Uncle Bonsai (www.unclebonsai.com), which continues to sing, record and tour.

She has composed a song cycle, taught writing and art to children and adults, and also works as a visual artist. Blue Janes is her seventh singing trio.

Tracy is a composer, singer, choral director, teacher and multi-instrumentalist. She has released four independently produced recordings and has created music for theater and dance.

She is founder of the Columbia City Community Chorus in Southeast Seattle. Her website is www.kathleen tracy.com.

Mann, an Americana jazz-tinged folk singer-songwriter, performs on ukulele, tenor and acoustic guitars and harmonica.

She’s been touring the U.S. since 2000 and debuted to European audiences in 2014, releasing five CDs.

Her website is www.jean mann.net.
