Ugly Christmas Sweater Pub Crawl & Poker Walk set Thursday in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Kiwanis Club of Port Angeles will host its second annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Pub Crawl & Poker Walk from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday.

Attendees will check in on the first floor of The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., at 6:30 p.m., where they will receive beverage tickets and items needed for the night.

“The Poker Walk will also start at this point, where those who pay to play will receive playing cards at each location they attend,” said Darcey Beck, event coordinator and Kiwanis member.

“At the end of the night, they present their best five-card poker hand for a chance to win 50 percent of the poker walk proceeds.”

Event tickets for the pub crawl are $15 in advance and are available online at kiwanispubcrawl.brown papertickets.com.

Tickets will be sold at the check-in point for $20, as well.

The poker walk is an additional $5 entrance fee.

Event tickets include entrance into the Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest and two beer tickets to be used at specified locations.

A special price and drink for designated drivers is $7 and can be purchased at the check-in point.

The first 100 attendees will receive gift bags of festive favors on check-in.

The event will be in conjunction with the annual Port Angeles Downtown Association’s Shop ’Til You Drop event.

More than five bars and restaurants from the downtown Port Angeles area will be participating locations, where attendees will be able to obtain their beverages, listen to live music from Bread & Gravy and strut the streets in their ugliest Christmas sweaters.

“The bars and restaurants make this event happen for us. We’re extremely appreciative that they’ve opened their doors and allowed us to come in and help create this event,” according to Beck.

The night’s events will conclude with DJ Robotix at The Metta Room, 132 E. Front St. The Ugly Sweater Contest will be held, along with the announcement of the Poker Walk winners.

The winners of the sweater contest will receive cash prizes. Two winners will be picked — best individual ugly sweater and best couple.

“Not only are we hoping to raise funds for our club’s projects, we’re hoping for a really fun night for the community,” said Beck.

Proceeds will go toward the Kiwanis Club of Port Angeles-sponsored organizations and events such as Kiwanis KidsFest, Back to School Event, Babe Ruth Softball, Olympic Peninsula Boys & Girls Clubs and others.
