Twinkle Lights Parade, Festival of Trees offered in Forks

FORKS — After a two-year break, Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rain Forest’s annual Festival of Trees is back live and in person this weekend, with viewing of decorated Christmas trees and wreaths open to the public before and after Saturday’s Twinkle Light Parade and community tree lighting and a live auction on Sunday.

The 21st annual Twinkle Light Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at C Street and end at the intersection of Sol Duc Way and Forks Avenue. After the parade, Santa will light the lights on the Forks Community Tree.

The Festival of Trees’ open house at the Rainforest Art Center (RAC), 35 N. Forks Ave., will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and immediately after the parade.

Visitors can view the trees and vote for their favorites while treating themselves to baked goods and bidding on wreaths in a silent auction.

On Sunday, the RAC doors will open at 1 p.m. The live auction will begin at 2 p.m. Fifteen trees and more than 20 wreaths will go to the highest bidders.

Tickets will be available for a specially decorated tree from Olympic Correction Center which comes with two cords of wood and several themed baskets. Refreshments will be by donation.

The Festival of Trees is the main fundraiser for Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rain Forest. Money raised supports such community projects as awards and scholarships, baby layettes for the Caring Place, hygiene kits for homeless and domestic abuse victims, cancer patient transportation, mammograms and heart tests, Forks Middle School student of the month/honor roll breakfasts/behavior interventions and comfort kits for children in foster care.
