Trick or treat events set Friday across Peninsula

Candy, costumes, parades this weekend

Halloween events are scheduled on Friday at venues across the Peninsula, from Forks to Quilcene.

They include:

Quilcene

• The Haunted Candy Bash will be open from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Quilcene Community Center, 294952 U.S. Highway 101, Quilcene.

The free party will feature candy, pizza, games, ghosts and music.

Port Townsend

• 29th Costume Parade and Downtown Trick or Treat will be hosted by the Port Townsend Main Street Program on Friday afternoon.

Children in preschool through sixth grade in costume are invited to participate.

Participants will assemble at 3:45 p.m. on the plaza at Adams and Water streets, and the Main Street witches will lead off the parade at 4 p.m. along Water Street to Polk Street.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Following the parade, participating downtown businesses will host trick or treat.

Water Street and some side streets from Madison to Polk streets will be closed to traffic from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to ensure the safety of the 1,500 to 2,000 people who typically attend the annual event.

• The Haunted Jail will be open during downtown trick or treating from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Friday at the Jefferson County Historical Society’s Museum of Art + History, 540 Water St., Port Townsend.

Sequim

• The Sequim Merchants Trick-or-Treat event will be open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday on Washington Street downtown.

• Sherwood Assisted Living, 550 W. Hendrickson Road, will host Trick-or-Treat from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

• The Fifth Avenue, 500 W. Hendrickson Road, will host Trick-or-Treat from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

• Security Services Northwest, 250 Center Park Way, will host Trunk-or-Treat from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

Children and families can stop by decorated vehicles and enjoy plenty of treats before continuing with their Halloween festivities.

Security Services Northwest will provide a visible security presence to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.

• The Olympic Peninsula Rat Racers will host Trunk-or-Treat from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the KSQM open house, 609 W. Washington St.

The event will feature studio tours, spiced cider, hot dogs, popcorn and “tricked out trunks.”

Port Angeles

• Downtown Port Angeles Trick or Treat will be from 2 p.m to 5 p.m. Friday at downtown businesses along and between First and Front streets.

• The Extreme Sports Park, 2917 W. Edgewood Drive, will host the Trick-or-Treat Trail from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, rain or shine.

• The city of Port Angeles will host Trick or Treat from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday in the atrium at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

All candy has been donated by city staff.

• Port Angeles Church of Christ, 1233 E. Front St., will host a Trunk or Treat event from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.

Costumes are encouraged at the community event.

• The Howl-o-ween Pet Parade and Costume Contest is set from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at City Pier, 325 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.

Studio Bob and the Port Angeles Downtown Waterfront District are inviting people to dress up their well-behaved dogs, cats, reptiles, birds or other pets.

The event will include a red carpet with a professional photographer as well as multiple selfie stations.

There will be booths from local animal-related organizations and charities, music and a food truck provided by D’s Dawgs.

Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories, including Owner/Pet Look Alike, Oddest pet, Funniest Costume, Scariest Costume and a Judge’s Choice.

Forks

• Forks Businesses Trick-or-Treat will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at businesses in Forks and Beaver.

Forks Avenue will be closed to traffic from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for safety.

• The Forks Branch Library, 171 S. Forks Ave., will host Halloween festivities from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

Kids of all ages are invited to stop by in costume, grab some treats and explore the library.

The library also will play PG-rated, family-friendly movies throughout the day, including 2009’s “Scooby Doo,” 2019’s “The Addams Family” and 1993’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
