SEQUIM — The internationally known Seattle Girls Choir’s top group, Prime Voci, will present a concert at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church.
“Unsung Voices: 1,000 Years of Female Composers” is the theme of the concert at the church at 100 S. Blake Ave.
The concert at the church is free; an offering will be taken to benefit the choir’s programs.
All the music was composed by women, ranging from liturgical pieces by Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) to the operatic music of the Seattle area’s Carol Sams.
Jerome Wright, Trinity’s choral director and conductor of the Peninsula Singers, was the Seattle Girls Choir’s founder and served as its artistic director until his retirement a decade ago.
The choir has toured across North America and performed at major festivals and concerts throughout Europe.
It has six choir levels, nearly 200 singers enrolled and a staff of 12, including artistic director Jacob Winkler.
