Toot Sweet to perform ‘At the Movies’

PORT TOWNSEND — Trinity United Methodist’s Candlelight Concerts will host Toot Sweet, a local clarinet quartet, at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The quartet will perform at 609 Taylor St., across from the Port Townsend Community Center in Uptown. Attendees should plan on arriving early — doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The performance also will be streamed live at https://trinityumcpt.org/concerts/ where you will find a link for the Candlelight Concerts Online and ways to donate.

The concert also will be simulcast on KPTZ FM 91.9.

Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $15 per person.

Half of the proceeds from this concert will go towards Yea Music! The YEA Music! mission is to provide the youth of East Jefferson County with musical opportunities including instruments, instruction and performances. YEA Music! is currently working to develop and support an East Jefferson Symphony Orchestra for High School music students in the area.

The program theme for this concert is “At the Movies,” featuring a variety of songs from various popular films, old and new. There will be music from various genres: animated film, thrillers, sci-fi, musicals and more. In the process of an enjoyable evening, you’ll learn about the music, the composers and the instruments.

Toot Sweet’s members are Vicky Blakesley, Mark Holman, Jan Proebstel and Nancy Peterson. The Toot Sweet quartet members perform in other local groups as well, including the Port Townsend Summer Band, Sequim Band, Port Townsend Orchestra, the Port Angeles Symphony and Poulsbo Community Orchestra.
