Toastmasters expert to talk on public speaking

SEQUIM — Seattle expert Jim Sultan will present “Taking the Fear Out of Public Speaking” at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Hosted by Skwim Toastmasters, the event will be free and open to the public at The Gathering Place in Sunland, 137 Fairway Drive.

Pre-registration is requested. Tickets are available online at https://tinyurl.com/PDN-publicspeaking.

“While millions of Americans fear public speaking,” said local small business consultant Kyle Hall, “it remains a leading way to generate solid, targeted leads for both traditional and entrepreneurial businesses.

“Whether an audience watches live or online, speaking lays the groundwork for building trust, rapport, and for winning devoted clients. If you are in business, you can’t afford to let terror of public speaking hold you back.”

Sultan served as International Director of Toastmasters from 2011 to 2013.

“I’ve been a Toastmaster for 16 years,” Sultan said, “but I’ve managed to cram a lifetime of experiences into that short time.”

With hundreds of presentations to audiences ranging from a handful to thousands of people under his belt, Sultan is a veteran of butterflies, cold sweats, dry mouth and all the other physical manifestations that come from the nervousness of presenting to a group.
