Timeless Treasures to feature dolls, toys this weekend

SEQUIM — The Olympic Peninsula Doll Club will present Timeless Treasures from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The free doll show will be at Sherwood Assisted Living, 550 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim. The museum-style show will offer a peek into the history of dolls and toys.

Some of the timeless treasures on display will include vintage baby dolls, antique mannequin dolls and ball-jointed dolls.

Selected items will be available for purchase.

The Olympic Peninsula Doll Club was established in 1974 by Sandy Brehan and Dolly Creasey. Christine Brehan, Sandy’s daughter and current club president, has been part of the club since she was a child.

“I grew up around these dolls, watching my mom and others in the club share their collections and stories,” Brehan said. “Being able to share the love and history of dolls with new generations is such a joy.

“Dolls and toys are a snapshot of history. They reflect the materials, fashions and societal values of their time. For many collectors, each doll tells a story about who made it and why it was cherished.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Olympic Peninsula Doll Club for this event,” said Janaye Birkland, the administrator at Sherwood Assisted Living. “It’s not only a wonderful way to bring joy and spark conversations across generations but also a unique opportunity for residents, families and our community to come together. There’s something magical about seeing parents, grandparents and children connect over cherished toys and memories.”

Visitors can meet with club members, explore doll histories and find a doll or toy that brings a bit of joy to their holiday season.

“Leave your grown-up self at the door and open up to child-like wonder,” Brehan said. “Whether you come to relive your own memories or just to see something new, this event has a little magic for everyone.”
