Tickets on sale now for three-day Departure Festival at Lake Leland

Attendance limited to 1,200 as COVID-19 restrictions ease

QUILCENE — Tickets are on sale now for the Departure Festival set for Aug. 5-7 at the Lake Leland Amphitheater.

The musical festival is to celebrate the loosening of restrictions against the ongoing COVID-19 infections, according to organizers.

“As the world awakens from the darkness of the global pandemic, many are looking to gather and share in the joy of live music,” organizers said in a press release.

Kalan Wolfe and Keely Crow-Ka of The Shift have called on performers from across the country to join them at Departure Festival.

The three-day music festival will feature Wookiefoot, Dustin Thomas, Raye Zaragoza, Tim Snider and Wolfgang Timber, Jus Wright and The Shift, as well as storytelling by Johnny Moses.

To preserve an atmosphere of gentle comradely, attendance will be limited to 1,200 tickets. Presale tickets can be purchased from the Departure Festival website at https://musicbytheshift.com/departurefestival.

Keely Crow-Ka and Kalan Wolfe founded Departure Festival when performing with their band, The Shift, was no longer an option, according to the release.

Writing and recording took the place of touring, and last summer, they produced a new album, Departure Festival, which “was inspired by their desire to support other artists who they admire, in a communal environment where people can gather as restrictions ease,” according to the release.

“We are musicians first and festival organizers second,” Wolfe said.

“We want to give something special to the community that has supported us so much through these unprecedented times.”

“We are incredibly excited to present an event with not only world-class musicians, but also with top-of-the-line craft and food vendors. We have all taken an enormous blow from the pandemic, and we want to provide an opportunity for artists and creators to get back to their craft.”

Organizers are supporting the Chemakum Longhouse Project of Jefferson County. A link to donate is on the website.
