Tickets for three-day THING festival at Fort Worden on sale

Food vendors, parade and other activities featured Aug. 25-27

PORT TOWNSEND — Tickets are on sale now for the third season of THING, a three-day music and arts festival at Fort Worden from Aug. 25-27, and producer Seattle Theatre Group says it is offering three-day passes at $100 off later this week.

Three-day, single day, general admission+, and VIP passes are on sale now at www.thingnw.org, www.stgpresents.org and www.ticketmaster.com. Attendees can use the access code SUMMER to get $100 off and save on fees when purchasing a $349.50 three-day General Admission pass during the Memorial Day offer on Thursday while supplies last, plus taxes where applicable.

Other ticket prices are $129.50 each day with VIP tickets going for $300 a day.

In addition to music, the festival will offer activities and workshops.

At this year’s event, attendees will have the opportunity to experience new additions including Tyson Ayer’s immersive and crowd-participatory sound art installation Sound Cave Project and Captain-Crystal’s Dream Catcher ADA hot air balloon from Sequim.

The lantern decorating booth and lantern parade will be continued along with a low-sensory garden area, screen printing with Vera Project and 19 food vendors and trucks ranging from dumplings to Mexi-Cuban, Filipino to paella.

A complementary shuttle between the festival grounds and eclectic downtown Port Townsend allows attendees to expand their time with additional restaurant and bar options, art galleries, local music, shopping and other activities.

The THING Market will include live glass blowing, mobile axe throwing and mobile mini putt.

Newly announced participating artists include Seattle drag artist Sativa the Queen, action painter Jesse Higman, Michelle Lassaline’s “You as an Animal” drawings, Urban Artworks’ community mural, Kinetic Sculptures and Port Townsend’s own Unexpected Brass Band.

This year’s Community Workshops include West African Dance, Jazz dance, Musical Theatre Improv, Hip Hop, Pilates, Breaking and many more that are free to the community.

Other community programs include ELEVATE, performances by More Music @ The Moore artists MIDPAK, Cherry Ferrari and THEM, PNW Mic Check featuring leading youth Hip Hop organizations 206Zulu, The Residency and Totem Star, and community activities include theatre games, West African drumming and Mexican traditional paper crafts.

This year’s lineup features music headliners Fleet Foxes, Lil Yachty, Sylvan Esso, Thundercat and Cigarettes After Sex; comedians Sarah Sherman, Kate Berlant and Jacqueline Novak; podcasts featuring Amanda Knox and Christopher Robinson, Ken Jennings and John Roderick and Ben Lee and Ione Skye.

Seattle Theatre Group (STG) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization. For the past 13 years, STG has partnered with Centrum and Fort Worden to provide the DANCE This! Camp at Centrum, a weeklong overnight dance program for high school students to study a wide range of styles and techniques.
