Three writers to join reading series at Northwind Arts Center

PORT TOWNSEND — A Port Townsend poet, the author of “You Ask Me to Talk About the Interior” and a contributing editor at Outside magazine will participate in Northwind Arts Center’s reading series at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Matthew Nienow, Carolina Ebeid and Abe Streep will present their work at the center at 701 Water St.

A $5 donation is suggested. All proceeds will support the Northwind Arts Center.

Nienow lives with his wife and two sons in Port Townsend, where he designs and builds high-end wooden paddleboards. His debut collection of poems, “House of Water,” was published in 2016.

Nienow’s work also has appeared in Poetry Northwest, New England Review and Poetry, which awarded him a 2013 Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship.

He has been recognized with a 2011 Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and a 2012 Fellowship from Artist Trust of Washington State.

Ebeid, the author of “You Ask Me to Talk About the Interior,” has won fellowships and prizes from CantoMundo, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, the Stadler Center for Poetry and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Ebeid’s work has appeared in The Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast Journal, Colorado Review, Linebreak, Bennington Review and the inaugural anthology “Ruth Stone House Reader.”

Streep, a contributing editor at Outside magazine, also writes for The California Sunday Magazine.

His journalism has appeared in WIRED, Harper’s Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, Men’s Journal, Bloomberg and Popular Science, among other publications.

Streep was previously a senior editor at Outside magazine. His writing has been in the anthologies “Best American Essays,” “Best American Sports Writing” and “Best American Science and Nature Writing.”
