Three days of storytelling begin today

PORT ANGELES — The Forest Storytelling Festival runs today through Sunday at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Full-festival packages are available for discounted prices, while single concert and workshop tickets range from free to $50; youngsters age 10 to 18 and Peninsula College students with current activity cards are admitted for half price.

Silent auctions, raffles and food sales go on all weekend, too.

Today

• 1 p.m. — Pre-festival workshop, “Discover Who You Are by Writing Your Story” with Minton Sparks, $50.

• 7 p.m. — Opening night concert with all five featured tellers, $15.

Saturday

• 9 a.m. — Choice of workshops: “Come on in: Welcoming and Understanding the Stranger” with Noa Baum or “Mapping Your Creativity” with Jeff Doyle, $20.

• 10:30 a.m. — Choice of workshops: “Redeeming an Un-Lived Life” with Minton Sparks, “Storytelling to Teach about Anger and Violence” with Decee Cornish or “The Audience You Want, the Audience You’ve Got” with Rachel Muller, $20.

• 12:30 p.m. — Story Slam Light, open mic for true personal stories of five minutes or less, on the theme of “Lesson Learned,” free.

• 12:30 p.m. — Story Swap, open mic for various tales of eight minutes or less, room J-47, free.

• 1:30 p.m. — Decee Cornish in concert, Alice Susong opens, $15.

• 2:25 p.m. — Rachel Muller in concert, Holly Robison opens, $15.

• 3:35 p.m. — Minton Sparks in concert, Rebecca Hom opens, $15.

• 7:30 p.m. — All featured tellers in concert, $20.

Sunday

• 10 a.m. — Inspirational Stories with all featured tellers, free.

• 12:20 p.m. — Jeff Doyle in concert, Eva Abram opens, $10.

• 1:05 p.m. — Noa Baum in concert, George Neiswanger opens, $10.

• 2:05 p.m. — Festival closes with final prize drawing.
