Theatrical acrobatics tell fairy tale in Sunday show

PORT ANGELES — The Juan De Fuca Foundation will present Aureum with Halcyon Shows at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Advance tickets to the show at the Port Angeles Performing Arts Center — the high school auditorium — at 304 E. Park Ave., are $20 to $40 for adults and $10 for youth 14 and younger. Prices increase $5 per ticket at the door.

Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.jffa.org or at Port Book & News in Port Angeles or Dungeness Kids Co. in Sequim.

The Halcyon Shows was established in 2017 with the mission of creating a new genre in theatre known as theatrical acrobatics, which integrates storytelling and characters with acrobatics and aerial moves.

“Its production, Aureum, combines these elements with an incredible original soundtrack and high-flying technical elements that would only otherwise be possible in stadiums,” organizers said.

The story of Aureum begins as the benevolent White Queen of Aureum and her warrior guardian welcome twins into the world.

Knowing that the White Queen’s bloodline is the only way to gain control of the powerful magic of the Seed, the Red Empress, seeking to gain ultimate power over Aureum, hatches an evil plan to kidnap one of the twins.

“The narrative explores how love is found in the most unusual places, and how the bonds that unite us are stronger than those that divide us,” organizers said.
