Tannahill Weavers to perform in Sequim

SEQUIM — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will host the Tannahill Weavers at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The cost is $30 per person cash at the door of the church at 525 N. Fifth Ave. in Sequim.

Reservations are needed. They can be made by emailing stlukesconcerts@gmail.com.

”The Tannahill Weavers are one of Scotland’s premier traditional bands,” organizers said. The group was born of a 1968 pub session in Paisley, Scotland, and was named for the town’s historic weaving industry and local poet laureate Robert Tannahill.

It blends traditional Celtic melodies with modern rhythms. The group’s repertoire spans the centuries with instrumentals, topical songs, original ballads and lullabies and humorous tales of life in Scotland.

In 2021, they were joined by piper and fiddle player Iain MacGillivray, who is also Scotland’s youngest clan leader. He has worked on “Outlander” and “Men in Kilts.” The band celebrates the nomination of its 18th recording, Òrach (“Golden” in Gaelic) as album of the year, and themselves as band of the year.
