Tales of risky business sought for Friday’s story slam

PORT ANGELES — The Out Loud Story Slam will be at Studio Bob in Port Angeles at 7 p.m. Friday.

The theme for the evening is Risky Business.

Doors of Studio Bob upstairs, at 118½ E. Front St. in Port Angeles, will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $12 in advance and are available online at www.outloudstoryslam.com, and $15 at the door, if available, cash and card accepted.

The event will be hosted by Nessa Goldman, who recently took a risk and shared a story at The Story Collider in Seattle, and hopes others will take a risk too.

“Think about a time you took a chance, or went out on a limb,” organizers said. “We hope you’ll take a risk with us and get up on stage to share a story of a time when you might have experienced a lapse in judgment.”

Audience members can listen only or get up with a microphone. All are invited to drop their names in the bag to share a five-minute true, personal story on the theme.

“Storytelling isn’t just an opportunity to get on stage. Our audience members get just as much from our events as our tellers do,” organizers said.

Winners will go on to participate in a future Grand Slam.

Ten tellers will be selected in total.

If you are interested in telling, or have been thinking about telling and would like a little more guidance, feel free to contact Out Loud Story Slam at outloud storyslam@gmail.com.
