Sunday bluegrass concert to benefit Quilcene Food Bank

Event kicks off drive for moving fund

QUILCENE — The Quilcene Food Bank will host a fundraiser concert at 4 p.m. Sunday with a local bluegrass group, Rhythm Ride, performing.

The Food Bank is asking a $10 donation for the concert at Community Methodist Church, 130 Church Lane.

This concert will be the start of a fundraising campaign for a new location for the growing base of users.

Proceeds will go to the moving fund for the food bank.

Its current space at the Quilcene Community Center serves a number of other community activities, limiting the food bank’s space, according to a news release.

The limited space prevents the food bank from expanding, so a new site is needed.

The Quilcene Food Bank is part of the Jefferson County Food Bank Association, which includes Brinnon, Tri-Area and the Port Townsend food banks.

It is the only association in Washington that oversees all food banks in its county, according to the food bank’s website at jefferson countyfoodbanks.org/ quilcene.html.

The association also assists the Hoh and Queet Reservation food banks in serving their communities, according to QFB’s website.

Donations to the moving fund can be made to Quilcene Food Bank, P.O. Box 112, Quilcene, WA 98376.

The memo section of the check should read “Quilcene Building.”

For information, visit the Food Bank from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays or call 360-765-0904.
