PORT TOWNSEND — Trinity United Methodist’s Candlelight Concerts will host the Summertime Singers, a local mixed choral group, at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The group will perform at Trinity United Methodist Church, 609 Taylor St., Port Townsend, in one set with no intermission. Attendees should plan on arriving early since doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Masks are encouraged for in-person attendees.
The performance also will be streamed live at https://trinityumcpt.org/concerts, where there will be a link for the Candlelight Concerts Online and ways to donate. The concert will be simulcast on KPTZ FM 91.9, as well.
Admission to the concert is free, with a suggested donation of $15 per person. All are welcome whether they donate or not, organizers said.
Half of the proceeds will be donated to Jumping Mouse (https://jumping mouse.org) which provided expressive mental health therapy for children.
Thursday will be the 11th time Candlelight Concerts has hosted Summertime Singers.
Formed in 2011 by a group of singers who didn’t wish to take the summer off when other singing groups took a break, conductor Colleen Johnson and her Summertime Singers have been committed to creating a variety of music ranging from classical to gospel to Americana.
This year’s program is built around the calendar, with songs for each month, August to July, including Gershwin’s “Summertime” for August, “Rain Come Down” for March and the “All American Hometown Band,” which comes full circle to July.
