Summer jazz concert for Tuesday

PORT ANGELES — The free PC Jazz Ensemble Summer Quarter Concert will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

It will be in Maier Performance Hall on the Port Angeles campus of Peninsula College at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Robbin Eaves of Joyce will be the featured vocalist with the 15-piece jazz band. She will sing the ballad, “You Don’t Know What Love Is,” the classic Jobim tune, “Corcovado,” and the 1931 Ozzie Nelson hit (later revamped by Cass Elliot), “Dream a Little Dream of Me.”

The band will play a wide variety of music: compositions by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Bill Holman, Thad Jones, John Lewis and Jose Diaz will all be heard; as well as four world premieres by conductor David P. Jones.

Performers are from across the North Olympic Peninsula.

From Port Angeles are Kevin McCartney on tenor sax/alto flute; Jim Bradbury and Joel Ricci, both on trumpet; Ken Young on trombone; Arisa Tone on piano; Mya Hartman on bass; Sal Michael on drums and conductor Jones on keyboards.

From Sequim are Jayne Morrison on alto sax, Anton Hilmisson on alto/baritone saxes, Jeff Fox on tenor sax, Dan James on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Jeff Dingle and Tom Hartig on trombone.

John Adams on alto sax and bass clarinet commutes from Port Townsend.
