PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will finish this year’s Studium Generale schedule with “Lifting the Old Ways: Memories of the 1989 Paddle to Seattle and its Legacy” on Thursday.
The program will begin with a Welcome and Bringing the Canoes on Robins Green at the college’s Port Angeles campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
The welcome will feature the Lower Elwha Klallam drum group and the tribe’s canoe.
A reception at the Pirate Union Building will follow at 11 a.m.
The program will end with a panel discussion at 12:35 p.m. at the Little Theater.
Panelists will include Joe Hudson, Hoh River tribe; Jesse Shepherd, Quileute Nation; Melissa Eyle, Quileute Nation; Liz Ward-Satiacum, Quileute Nation; Sam White, Lower Elwha Klallam; Dan Cable, Lower Elwha Klallam; Kathy Brown, Heiltsuk First Nation Canada; and Neil Conklin of Port Angeles.
The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with tribal elders.
The Hoh River canoe will be on display in the Little Theater.
