PORT ANGELES — Students will teach adults on Sunday.
The North Olympic History Center, once known as the Clallam County Historical Society, is hosting the second annual Hands on History presentations at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The presentations will be at the Lincoln Center, 905 W. Ninth St. Light refreshments will be served.
This is a change of venue for the April History Tales presentation. History Tales is free and the community is welcome.
Nine students will share research about topics central to the history of Clallam County. They will talk with visitors at their displays.
At 4:30, judges will announce the winners of scholarships.
It wont be known until then how many scholarships, or their amounts, will be awarded, said Patrick Noonan, education chairman of the history center.
Student presentations will deal with such topics as the Port Angeles Opera House, the Spotted Owl controversy,; the Spruce Division Railroad, the 1893 Depression and the lasting legacy of G.M. Lauridsen, Sequim Railroad Park; Minerva Troy and the arts, and why Olympic National Park’s ski area moved from Deer Park to Hurricane Ridge.
Community members are encouraged to bring friends and family to support and encourage these students in their research.
