Storytellers invited to ‘slam’ on Friday

PORT ANGELES — Out Loud Story Slam will be at Studio Bob in Port Angeles on Friday.

The theme for the evening is Left Out, hosted by Nessa Goldman, who will share her own story about being left out. This will be her last Story Slam until 2024.

The event begins at 7 p.m., with doors open at 6:15 p.m. at the studio at 118½ E. Front St.

Tickets are $12 in advance, available online at www.outloudstoryslam.com, and $15 at the door, if available. Cash and card accepted.

Everyone is invited to drop their name in the bag to share a five-minute true, personal story on the theme.

“Perhaps you’ve been the one left out, or maybe you left something out. Be it an intentional omission, or an obvious slight, all stories are welcome on the stage,” organizers said.

“The themes are just a guideline, and the teller is the interpreter, to do with it what they will. Get to know your fellow community members, or grab the microphone yourself.”

Storytellers are judged by the audience, but the event is all in the spirit of sharing.

The idea is that tellers prepare their best stories, and the winners will go on to participate in a future Grand Slam. Ten tellers will be selected in total.

Audience members also can participate anonymously, or just enjoy the tales of the evening.

If you are interested in telling, or have been thinking about telling and would like a little more guidance, feel free to contact Out Loud Story Slam at outloudstoryslam@gmail.com.
