Squatchcon returns for a four-day weekend run

PORT ANGELES — Squatchcon returns for a third year from Thursday through Sunday in Port Angeles.

The annual comic, cosplay, gaming and fan culture festival is mostly at the Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St.

There are also after-hours events at Studio Bob on Thursday and at the Field Arts & Events Hall on Saturday.

Tickets are $25 per person, $15 for teens. Those 12 and younger will be admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at www.squatch conpa.com/tickets.

Thursday features a free community preview of the vendor market from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. during vendor setup.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Thursday for the third Cosplay Drink and Draw at Studio Bob, 118½ Front St., Port Angeles.

The Port Angeles Community Players will provide cosplay models for attendees to sketch. The first pose will be at 7 p.m.

Admission is free with a Squatchcon pass or a $5 donation to the Community Players.

Official Day One on Friday begins with the opening of the vendor market from noon to 8 p.m.

The panel and workshop room opens at 12:30 p.m. with all-ages face-painting; workshops on posing for pictures, shopping and sourcing for cosplay and how to determine the value of collectibles; and, at 5:30 p.m., the Free Octopus Cosplay and Costume Swap.

The day closes with a Kpop Dance Party from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Vern Burton Center.

The all-ages party is $15 per person or free with a Squatchcon pass.

On Saturday, the vendor market opens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Panels and workshops will start at 8:30 a.m. in two meeting rooms inside the center and a third at Port Angeles City Council chambers.

Inside the Atrium, Topia Vane will perform from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and The Buhs will play from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Day Two ends with the Costume Cosplay Party at 7 p.m. at Field Hall, 201 W. Front St.

Admission is $5 donation to Field Hall or free with a Squatchcon pass.

The winners of the cosplay contest will be announced at 8 p.m. during the party, but registration for the contest is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the vendor market.

On Day Three, the vendor market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and panels begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Vern Burton meeting rooms, including workshops on Sasquatch communications, creating magic systems as well writing workshops and meetups.
