Squatchcon convention kicks off Thursday

PORT ANGELES — The Second Annual Squatchcon Comic & Arts Convention will kick off on Thursday with a special Drink & Draw and a KPop Dance Party at Studio Bob.

Squatchcon, which will run through Sunday, will include an all-ages cosplay contest, panels and workshops, a mini-arcade and a market with 60-plus artists, split between the Vern Burton Community Center at 308 E. Fourth St., Red Lion Hotel at 221 N. Lincoln St., and Studio Bob at 118½ E. Front St.

Tickets to Thursday’s Studio Bob events are free for Squatchcon pass holders and $10 suggested donation to Port Angeles Community Players for non-pass holders.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the Squatchcon Cosplay Drink & Draw at Studio Bob. The first pose will be at 7 p.m.

The Squatchcon Cosplay Drink & Draw will feature Port Angeles Community Players posing in cosplay for guests of all ages to sketch. Art supplies are provided or bring your own.

At 9 p.m., the lights will be turned down for music by DJ O.M.Gushhh for the first ever Squatchcon KPop Dance Party, benefitting the Port Angeles Community Players. Kawaii fashion encouraged.

Squatchcon four-day passes are $25 for adults, $15 for teens (13-17). Kids 12 & under are admitted free if accompanied by a pass-holding adult. Will-call tickets are available to purchase online at squatchconpa.com or at the door of the Vern Burton Community Center.
