Spooky fun offered this weekend

Halloween comes to the Peninsula

Spooky entertainment is breaking out all over the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend as Halloween approaches.

• The Reign of Terror Haunted Hangar continues in Forks on Friday and Saturday.

The cost is $15 for what is billed as the “Olympic Peninsula’s most extreme Halloween experience,” presented in a hangar at the Quillayute Airport, 5144 Quillayute Road in Forks. It is open from 7 p.m. to midnight each night.

Other events are set for Saturday and Sunday.

• Scaredy Cats Howl-o-ween Haunted House has been held over due to popular demand, according to the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.

The haunted house is set from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Tuesday at Kitty City, 91 S. Boyce Road, Sequim.

Admission is $10 per person, $5 if 16 or younger; free for 5 and younger.

Almost 600 people attended the Oct. 14 Fall Festival. Only the haunted house will be open; other festival events are not available.

• Haunted Hallways at Sequim High School will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for children 4 and older.

Admission is by canned food items to benefit the Sequim Food Bank.

Face painting with Sequim High School cheerleaders, cake walks, coloring, crafts and candy will be offered. Costumes are encouraged.

• Sequim Prairie Grange Fall Festival & Trunk or Treat will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

All ages are welcome at the event at 290 Macleay Road. Tickets to games inside the grange will be 50 cents each. Also offered will be a cake walk, apple cider and hot dogs and hamburgers for sale.

Outdoors the grounds will be filled with trunks full of treats and pumpkin carving for free.

• Social Norm’s Halloween Festivities at First United Methodist Church, at 110 E. Seventh St. in Port Angeles, are set for Saturday and Sunday.

“Night of Souls,” a free party and concert for youth 13 and older, will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. It will feature a first-come, first-served open mic, costume contest, dance floor, luminary-making, refreshments and live music by local high school basement band The Goobers.

The open-mic portion of the evening will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Goobers will take the stage at 8 p.m.

Throughout the evening, event-goers can vote anonymously for best costume and best open-mic act.

The church’s first Trunk or Treat is set from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot.

Families can expect to find an assortment of treats in addition to household items, from art supplies to toiletries. Shore Aquatic Center will join with a trunk of its own and will give away free pool passes.

• Forks Assembly of God Truck or Treat will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the church at 81 Huckleberry Lane.

Costumes are encouraged.

• Blakesee’s Bar & Grill Costume Contest will be at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The contest will be at the establishment at 1222 S. Forks Ave., Forks.

• The Witches Tea Party is planned for 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Lake Crescent Lodge, 416 Lake Crescent Road, off U.S. Highway 101 west of Port Angeles.

Costumes are encouraged.

• Port Townsend Elks Halloween Party is set from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the lodge at 555 Otto St.

The costume party will feature the band, The Works.

Downtown trick or treat events are set in Forks, Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend on Tuesday, along with other activities.
