Solstice Art Festival slated for Friday, Saturday

PORT ANGELES — The inaugural Solstice Art Festival will fill the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center and adjacent Webster’s Woods Sculpture Park with free activities today and Saturday.

The celebration of summertime includes sun print-making, artist demonstrations, solstice crown-making, a photo scavenger hunt, artist talks and guided walks in the woods. The free fest takes place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Details and the activity schedule are found at www.pafac.org via the Calendar of Events link.

New art installations await visitors to the Webster’s Woods park: sculptures by Clea Rome of Port Angeles, Katherine Shaughnessy of Boise, Idaho, Ross Brown of Diamond Point and the North Olympic Watercolorists of Clallam County are integrated into the forest and meadow.

Also part of the festival: The Makers’ Market of artisan goods, set up along the park’s main path, and the “pARTicipation” art exhibit inside the center’s gallery. Music makers and listeners are invited to this evening’s open jam session, also in the gallery, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
