Sky House concert to weave social justice, music tonight in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Diane Cluck will perform with Abakis from 5:30 to 10 this evening in an intimate house show following a Standing Rock prisoner letter-writing session and potluck meal at Sky House.

Tickets will be available at the doors when they open at 5:30 p.m.

Suggested donation

The suggested donation will be $5 to $20, though no one will be turned away.

Children 12 and younger will be admitted free at the venue, 21 Deer Ridge Road.

Attendees are asked to bring postage stamps and a dish or drink to share.

A social justice workshop and potluck is scheduled for 6 p.m., and music will begin at 7 p.m.

The workshop will feature writing letters to water protectors who have been incarcerated in South Dakota after protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline, according to the press release.

There are two people being held in Burleigh County Jail: Red Fawn Fallis and Charles Jordan. Michael Markus is being held in McLean County Jail.

Abakis creates collaborative music that bridges new and old worlds, organizers said, blending soulful folk and country swing with elements of jazz and funk.

This is the inaugural concert in a series at Sky House this year. The series will weave together social justice workshops and intimate listening environment shows featuring artists from around the country.

These events are an open invitation to Jefferson County residents to build community, get involved with local social justice initiatives and enjoy intricate music in an intimate listening environment.
