Singers in the Rain to perform fan favorites at Sunday concert

PORT HADLOCK — Singers in the Rain, a men’s choral group, will present a special concert at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The concert will be at Community United Methodist Church, 130 Church Lane in Port Hadlock. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m.

Admission is a suggested $5 donation, with children younger than 12 admitted free. Proceeds will benefit local nonprofits supported by the church. Refreshments will be served following the performance.

The 12-member all-male choral group began seven years ago as a singing and music reading class for men under the leadership of mezzo-soprano Sydney Keegan and music education graduate Hazel Johnson.

The group has performed at the Candlelight Concerts held at Trinity United Methodist Church every May for the past six years.

The group has amassed a collection of favorites that have been sung at past concerts and will be reprising them in a special concert Sunday.

Some of the songs that have been selected are “Zion’s Walls,” “Down by the Riverside,” “All Night, All Day,” “A Fool Such as I,” “Crazy,” “Hesitation Blues,” “Milk Cow Blues,” “Key to the Highway,” “I Don’t Want to Play in Your Yard,” “I Only Have Eyes for You,” “What’ll I Do,” “Nessun Dorma,” “Just Jolson,” “Old Man River,” “Embraceable You” and the group favorite, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen.

The men will be accompanied by Diane Thompson, who plays regularly for their concerts.
