Singer-songwriter to perform in Coyle

COYLE — San Francisco Bay Area singer-songwriter Jesse Strickman will perform songs about love and social change during Concerts in the Woods at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Strickman will be accompanied by Josh Michael on vocal harmony, light percussion and piano at the show at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road. Admission will be by donation.

Complimentary cookies and coffee will be served at intermission.

Strickman “has played in Coyle once before with a band called Dear Indugu, but he is also a songwriter in his own right and is now touring with accompanist Josh Michael,” said series organizer Norm Johnson.

“His work is sensitive and emotional and is delivered with his unique musical style that matches the feeling in the lyrics. It’s the kind of singer/songwriter material that needs to be heard in a listening room like the Coyle community center.”

Annually touring the Pacific West Coast as the frontman of Indie Folk bands, Strickman has played everywhere from intimate cafes to outdoor amphitheaters and festivals.

He’s opened for national and world acts such as Damien Jurado, Jay Brannan, CAKE, The T Sisters, Aaron Ross (Hella), Night Riots, Lech Wierzynski (California Honeydrops) and Jhameel.

Mid 2018 marked a new beginning for Strickman as he began performing under his given name as a singer/songwriter. He is currently in the studio for his debut full-length album at Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco, set for release in early 2020.

Michael studied voice and theater at Las Positas College in Livermore, Calif.
