PORT TOWNSEND — Northwind Art has an updated exhibition program, with applications open now to artists in Clallam, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason and Island counties.

The Showcase 2024 program will again feature local and regional artists at Jeanette Best Gallery, 701 Water St., with 12 artists selected to show their work for the entire program year, from February through next December.

In addition, Northwind Art is starting a new seasonal rotation. A new set of six artists will be chosen to show during three-month periods: February-April, May-July, and August-October 2024. Then all artists who have participated in the program during the year will be represented in the annual Holiday Small Works show in November-December 2024.

“With this new rotation, we’re bringing in new artists every three months, and opening up the gallery to people who may have never shown with Northwind before,” said Diane Urbani, Northwind Art communications manager.

The application process is open this week and will be ongoing through June 1. Artists selected will be notified at least two months prior to their participation dates.

Artists may apply any time during the application period, but only applications received by Oct. 27 will be considered for the year-round program and the first three-month period from February to April. Artists do not need to reapply if they are not initially selected, since all applications will be considered and reviewed for future three-month periods.

Details about applying are found at https://north windart.org/showcase. All entries are submitted through the Northwind Art website, with a $40 entry fee per artist. Northwind Art has discontinued the $150 fee of previous years.

Potential applicants with questions are encouraged to contact Showcase gallery manager Ken Hulick at showcase@northwindart.org.

To see the current Showcase Artists exhibition, which presents the work of 24 local artists through this December, go to the Exhibits & Events page at NorthwindArt.org, or visit Jeanette Best Gallery, which is open daily from noon to 5 p.m.

Showcase 2024 artists will be chosen by a panel of Northwind curators, who will judge the quality, professionalism, and sales potential of the work.

“We will look for a cohesive body of work from each artist,” Hulick said.

“Our final artist selections will reflect a variety of media, techniques, and styles.”
