Shakespeare in the Woods returns

PORT ANGELES — Lovers of romance and comedy are invited to the second weekend of “As You Like It,” Shakespeare’s tale of love and cross-dressing in the forest.

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is presenting the play, part of its Shakespeare in the Woods festival, in the meadow of its Webster’s Woods park, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Admission is free, and performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings through Aug. 5.

A comic pre-show starts at 6 p.m. with the play following at 6:30. The pre-show introduces the audience to the story and characters of “As You Like It” — and tosses in some Shakespeare trivia and prizes.

Playgoers are encouraged to bring picnic suppers, blankets and low lawn chairs, and leave pets and glass containers at home.

Directed by Cheryl Dawn Koenig, “As You Like It” has a cast and crew of volunteers from Port Angeles and Sequim; costumes are by Richard Stephens and hair and makeup by Jennifer Horton.

Donations are welcome for this annual production at the nonprofit fine arts center.

For more information, see www.PAFAC.org, call 360-457-3532 or visit the PAFAC Shakespeare in the Woods page on Facebook.
