PORT ANGELES — Two of the featured artists on the Second Saturday Gallery Walk will be Tracy McCallum at Harbor Art Gallery and Carmen Czachor at Studio Bob.
Both will be on the free, self-guided tour of downtown Port Angeles art venues from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
McCallum moved to Port Angeles from Taos, N.M., in 2010 and began turning bowls of exotic wood on the lathe. He recently has taken up the brush again and is producing both two- and three-dimensional work in his Port Angeles studio and shop.

He is a member of the Harbor Art Gallery, 114 N. Laurel St., and Olympic Peninsula Art Association. He will be at Harbor Art from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and during the Second Saturday Gallery Walk.
Though primarily a colorist, McCallum also works with ink on paper in a style that grows out of study and interpretation of Sino-Japanese brushwork.
The black and white calligraphic works are suggestive of Japanese/Chinese language ideograms.
Born in New Jersey, McCallum grew up in Lansing, Mich., and Scotia, N.Y.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature and has been a student of Elizabeth Campbell, Kazuaki Tanahashi, “Mott Street Doc” and William Heine.
McCallum moved to Taos in 1971, had a career as a librarian at the Harwood Foundation Library and Town of Taos Public Library, designed and built two homes and painted in his studio in San Cristobal.
He has had numerous exhibitions, and his work is a permanent part of the installation of Great River Zen Center in Bath, Maine, and the NO Zendo in Port Angeles.
At Studio Bob, 118½ E Front St., (upstairs), the art of Carmen Czachor will be on view.
“Brazen” is Czachor’s second one-woman show. Her work reflects the wide range of art forms and techniques she has explored through the years — but in all, she works with vibrant color.
Opening night and artist reception will be during Second Saturday Gallery Walk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A no host bar will serve beer and wine in The Loom during the opening.
On Sunday, the show will be open between noon and 3 p.m. It will remain up through Jan. 5.

Czachor has been drawing since she was young. She minored in art with a major in biology at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She became a veterinarian and is the doctor at Family Veterinary Clinic in Port Angeles but has also stayed grounded in her artistic roots.
She has taken classes at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia; Angel Academy in Florence, Italy;and Academy of Realist Art in Boston as well as at Gage in Seattle.
She has studied oil painting under Graydon Parrish, Daniel Sprick, Eric Wert, Jared Woznicki, Juliette Aristides, Ewan McNaughton, Mitchell Albala, Domenic Medici, Jim Phalen and Larine Chung, among others.
2nd Friday Art Rock (2FAR) at Bar N9ne, 229 W. First St., will kick off the weekend with music and live painting tonight.
The evening will begin at 9 with artist Jeff Tocher and acoustic band Tony Flaggs.
The $3 cover charge will help support the musicians and artists.
Tony Flaggs is Ed Schmid (mandolin/vocals), Gary Korb (guitar/vocals), Ken Emerson (bass), and Ed Shisslak (percussion) playing acoustic and harmonic arrangements of songs from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.

The Landings Artists Studio, 115 E. Railroad Ave., also will be open during Second Saturday, offering beverages, appetizers and artist demonstrations.
