Second Saturday features artwork in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Harbor Art Gallery will feature guest artist Andrea Woods during the Second Saturday Art Walk in Port Angeles.

Woods, who is displaying her work at the gallery at 114 N. Laurel St., Port Angeles, through the month of July, will be at the gallery on Saturday until 7 p.m.

Generally, the gallery, which features work from local artists in a wide range of media, is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Woods is a contemporary oil painter living in the Pacific Northwest, where she finds inspiration for her paintings.

“Art is a visual language. The artist communicates their concept and feeling, their intent, to the viewer through the painting,” Woods said.

Woods credits early educational experiences for her strong foundation in drawing, which forms the basis for all of her artwork. She continues to learn from other artists throughout time.

“We never stop learning: it is a wonderful process and journey,” she said.

Although Woods has worked in many mediums, oil paints are her preferred materials, as she enjoys using rich colors and varying textures “to create places where we would all like to go.”

Harbor Art Gallery showcases work by other local artists Bob Stokes and Cindy Elstrom, Carolyn Guske, Robert Amaral, Garret Delabarre, Terri Ench, Tammy Hall, Susan Kantowitz, Ruth Kaspin, Nancy McFaul, Gail McLain, Eric Neurath, Miranda Petruska, Randy and Sallie Radock, Jodi Riverstone, Nathan Shields, Jennifer and Davis Stevenson, Lance and Haley Snider, Eileen Webb and Kevin Willson.

Studio Bob

Also on Saturday will be the Second Weekend Art Opening opening of Inspired by Music at Studio Bob.

Paintings by Jeffrey Tocher, Lynne Roberson and Mike Pace will be on view throughout July at the studio at 118½ E. Front St., Port Angeles.

The opening will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday with special musical guest Tin Sandwich. The show also will be on view from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

At the show, three best friends and artistic collaborators will present both new and past paintings representing their mutual love of live music.

Pace is a master guitarist who studied painting at Gonzaga University while pursuing a career as a rock star. Roberson and Tocher both studied at the University of Georgia in Athens during the ’80s college-rock explosion.

All three artists will be showing work painted live at the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts and other venues over the last 12 years.

Their work can be found at The New Moon Craft Tavern.
