Second Saturday Art Walk this weekend in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — The Second Saturday Art Walk is set from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at participating Port Angeles businesses.

Galleries participating in the free monthly self-guided tour include:

• The One of a Kind Gallery, 115 E. Railroad Ave., will feature the oil and acrylic landscapes of Valle Nevaril.

Nevaril is an artist who takes pictures of local scenes and brings the pictures back to the studio to create paintings.

Nevaril’s works have been displayed at galleries, banks and other businesses in Port Angeles and Sequim for the past 35 years.

• Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St., will host a reception for “Through a Modern Lens,” from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The new gallery show features iPhone photography by local artist James Lidback.

Lidback moved to Port Angeles in 1996 while on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard and remained here after retiring.

“I love living on the Olympic Peninsula,” Lidback said. “I am constantly amazed at the beauty all around us, from the smallest thing to the grand scenes of sky, ocean and mountains. I’ve always wanted to be photographer but I’ve never invested in a nice camera. All the images you see are taken with an iPhone and edited on an app on my phone. Nothing fancy.”

The reception will feature live music by Tin Sandwich.

For more information, call the studio at 360-775-2160 or visit www.studiobob.art.

• Harbor Art Gallery, 114 N. Laurel St., will feature the contemporary impressionist paintings of Andréa Woods. She will be at the gallery from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Port Angeles resident finds inspiration for her paintings in the Pacific Northwest, using rich colors and varied textures to create places we would all like to go.

“I enjoy painting many subjects,” Woods said. “It is either how the light is hitting it or a special moment I want to capture. Art is a visual language. The artist communicates their concept and feeling, their intent, to the viewer through the painting. We never stop learning. It is a wonderful process of exploration.”

Woods enjoys teaching and sharing her work in exhibits.

Oil paints are her preferred medium. Woods continues to learn from and study current and old masters and is currently inspired by Russian Impressionism.

Woods’ paintings will be on display from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays throughout July.

• The Hub, 117 N. Lincoln St., will feature the works of watercolor painter Todd Fisher, metal artist Will Frick, painter Baillieu Lewis, abstract painter Larry White and writer and creator Izzy Zucker from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Cabled Fiber and Yarn, 125 W. First St., will host artist Sunshine Tucker from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Tucker, a Port Angeles-based book designer, will demonstrate the art of Furoshiki wrapping during the Art Walk.

Tucker learned the Japanese art at a workshop in the United Kingdom.

Fabric pieces will be available for purchase for those who wish to try their hand at wrapping a present or a bag.

Studio Bob will unveil a new gallery show, “Through a Modern Lens,” on Saturday featuring the iPhone photography of local artist James Lidback.
