Second Saturday Art Walk showcases photographs, carvings, paintings

PORT ANGELES — Second Saturday Art Walk will highlight Port Angeles artists.

• Creative Photographic Visions by Digital Artistry Group will be on display at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

A group of recent work from seven photographers will be on display. The show includes images based on landscape, nature, and portraiture, as well as altered reality and abstract images. This art was created using photographs and the artist’s skills in the digital darkroom.

Artists include Lewis Bennett, Colleen Bittner, Peg Hanson, Barbara Lippert, Tim O’Neill, Witta Priester and Susan White. Music will be provided by Tin Sandwich on Saturday night.

• Harbor Art Gallery at 114 N. Laurel St. will feature the artwork of Garret DelaBarre throughout the month of October.

Hours are generally from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. but on Saturday they will be extended until 7 p.m. DeLaBarre and other artists will be on hand.

DelaBarre, who has built custom homes in the Pacific Northwest while living in Port Angeles for the past 30 years, is exhibiting “High Lake,” a relief carving in cedar, at Harbor Art Gallery.

“I utilize a mixture of tools and techniques…there are no rules,” DelaBarre said.

The gallery also showcases work by local artists Bob Stokes and Cindy Elstrom, Carolyn Guske, Robert Amaral, Kelly Coffey, Terri Ench, Tammy Hall, David Johannessohn, Susan Kantowitz, Ruth Kaspin, Nancy McFaul, Gail McLain, Roger Mosley, Eric Neurath, Randy and Sallie Radock, Jodi Riverstone, Nathan Shields, Lance and Haley Snider, Eileen Webb, and Kevin Willson.

• One of a Kind Art Gallery at Port Angeles Wharf, 115 Railroad Ave., has several new artists and is featuring four this month.

Photographer Jeff Hart captures the beauty of nature in this part of the state, shooting images of wildlife, water and mountains.

His objective is “healing and calming the human psyche, evoking feelings of happiness and contentment, capturing scenes of awe and wonder and celebrating our spiritual connection to nature and humanity,” he said.

John Teichert’s pastel and watercolor works focus on local landscapes and points of interest. He lives with his family in Port Angeles.

John Rodgers, a woodworker and painter, is displaying three tables at the gallery.

“An artist creates something that makes them feel a certain way or by feeling a certain way they create something,” he said.

Karen Parker paints over collages with local headlines relating to our area. She lives in Sequim with her husband.

• Cable Fiber and Yarn at 125 W. First St., will showcase fiber artist Jolene Dalton Gailey, owner and founder of Knitworthy Designs, during the Second Saturday Art Walk from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

She will feature several of her most popular designs, including her Just In Time Beanie, Wrapped In Warmth Scarf, Cable Coffee Cozy patterns and will have ready-made items available for purchase including beanies, scarves and wall hangings.
