Saturday prom to support Port Townsend radio station

PORT TOWNSEND — On Saturday, the same night as the Port Townsend High School Prom, KPTZ 91.9 FM will host a prom for the rest of the community at the Palindrome.

Tickets for the KPTZ Prom at the Palindrome at 1893 S. Jacob Miller Road are $15. They are available at Crossroads Music, 2100 Lawrence St.; The Food Co-op, 414 Kearney St.; and at the prom itself starting at about 6:30 p.m.

All ages are welcome.

The fundraiser event will help support KPTZ’s expansion plans for 2019-20, including enhanced emergency broadcast services and entertainment programming, and studio enhancement.

Music for the event will be provided by the Midnight Train Blues Band, a Port Townsend blues and dance band founded in 2014.

Key KPTZ volunteers who will be on hand for the Prom at the Palindrome include DJ hosts Dalana of Music to My Ears, Jerry Osborne, who produces both Class Reunion and Vinyl Village, and Blues Journey’s Taylor Clark.

“This town really enjoys their dressed-up events,” said “Chicago Bob” Longmire, guitarist and vocalist for the Midnight Train, co-producer of the KPTZ Prom.

Eaglemount Wine and Cider will feature its Palindrome tasting room for the event.

They will serve a selection of wines and ciders, along with KPTZ Fortifier APA, the special ale developed together by the Port Townsend Brewing Company and the station.
