SEQUIM — The Rotary Club of Sequim will host its 50th annual Salmon Bake at the Sequim unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula at noon Sunday.
Adult tickets are $16 in advance and $18 on the day of the salmon bake at the club at 400 W. Fir St. Salmon will be cooked over an open alder-fueled fire.
Hot dog plates for children younger than 12 will be $5 each.
Seating will be available indoors and outside.
Live musical entertainment, raffle prizes and a vendor mall featuring some of Sequim’s businesses, local craftspeople and nonprofits are planned.
Tickets can be purchased from a Noon Rotarian, at the Boys & Girls Clubs unit on Fir Street, at the Sequim Chamber of Commerce, Beal Carpet and Drapery and Thomas Building Center. All proceeds will help support the Sequim unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs and other local charities.
Henry Jones, a stamp club member and foundation chairman with the Rotary, said the club will offer envelopes along with some commemorative Rotary stamps from 1955 that celebrated the Rotary’s 50th anniversary at the time.
Jones, a retired insurance agent, said the stamp at the time cost 8 cents, 5 cents above face value.
Jones said the U.S. Postal Service didn’t offer another charity stamp for several decades — that one was for breast cancer research.
At the Salmon Bake, Jones plans to raffle off personal “My Post Office” collections he’s created with around $200 in collector value and enough stamps to mail 50 envelopes in each box, including the Rotary stamp.
The cost for a cachet is $1, and $2 for the post office cancel, stamp and envelope. A price is to be determined for envelopes with the Rotary stamp, too.
A U.S. Postal Service representative will be at the show issuing cancellations.
