Rosie & the Riveters to perform tonight in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Rosie & the Riveters, a trio from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, that performs folk music with a vintage 1940s flair, will take the stage at the Port Angeles High School auditorium at 7 tonight.

Tickets for the production presented by the Juan De Fuca Foundation are $15 to $30, with youth 14 and younger admitted for $10.

They can be purchased in advance at Port Book and News in Port Angeles, Joyful Noise Music in Sequim and online at jffa.org.

Tickets also will be available at the door of the auditorium at 304 E. Park Ave.

Empower women

Inspired by Rosie the Riveter, the feminist icon that symbolized women’s movement into the workforce during World War II, the Riveters aim to empower women to be ambassadors for change within their own communities and reach.

In support of this vision they donate 20 percent of their merchandise profits to help women’s projects around the world through www.kiva.org.

A bit of humor

The trio performs original songs with a swinging beat, sophisticated harmonies and a bit of humor, according to the Juan De Fuca Foundation.

The group formed in 2011 and released their most recent album, “Ms. Behave,” in 2018.
