Rocks, gems, jewelry offered at weekend show

PORT ANGELES — Gems, crystals, minerals, cut slabs and rocks will be on view and available for purchase on Saturday and Sunday at the Vern Burton Community Center.

Admission will be free to the Clallam County Gem and Mineral Association’s Rock, Gem and Jewelry Show at the Vern Burton Community Center at 308 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and form 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Vendors also will offer jewelry, cabochons, lapidary art and equipment. Representatives of the nonprofit Clallam County Gem and Mineral Association (CCGMA) will be on hand to introduce visitors to its activities, shops and classes, as well as provide ongoing demonstrations in cabochon making and faceting.

Returning by popular demand is Rock Alley, which offers games that can leave players with rocks as prizes.

New this year is the CCGMA Artist in Action Table, a juried selection of members’ work for purchase. The table also highlights the many distinct aspects of lapidary art. These artists will contribute a portion of sales to the organization to help fund equipment, maintenance and education.

The Artist in Action table will be in the entry along with raffle tables. Raffle items are donated by CCGMA vendors and members. All raffle proceeds fund the club’s activities.

Stephanie and Allison from Wild Goddess Brews n Bites have prepared a special menu for the show. They are available at the kitchen window in the showroom.
