Red Wine, Cider & Chocolate Tour offered for two weekends

The annual Olympic Peninsula Red Wine, Cider & Chocolate Tour, which was canceled because of a massive snowstorm last weekend, is back on.

The self-guided tour of nine wineries — which are offering new releases paired with chocolate treats and often accompanied by live music — will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday as well as the following weekend.

Originally set for Feb. 9-10 and Feb. 16-18, the first weekend was canceled because of the weather.

The weather seems to have calmed down.

“All the winery owners have checked in and the roads to the tasting rooms are all passable,” reads a Wednesday post on the Olympic Peninsula Winery Association Facebook page.

“They are doing their rain dances and specifying that they want the snow to melt without a flood event.”

Tour tickets are $40 online at www.olympic peninsulawineries.org and include wine, cider and chocolate pairings at all nine venues, plus a commemorative wine glass. Those who had already purchased tickets can use them on any day of the new schedule.

Tickets purchased at the door of participating venues are $45.

Independently, each winery/cidery charges a $10 per person tasting fee.

Culinary favorites such as Camaraderie Cellars’ cocoa spiced pulled pork and FairWinds Winery’s chocolate fountain will be back by popular demand, and locally-made treats from We Do Fudge, Elevated Candy Shop, Yvonne’s Chocolates and Silverwater Café will inspire new favorite flavor combinations as visitors travel from one venue to the next.

Participating venues include:

• Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., Sequim.

• Harbinger Winery, 2358 U.S. Highway 101 W., Port Angeles.

• Camaraderie Cellars, 334 Benson Road, Port Angeles.

• Olympic Cellars, 255410 U.S. Highway 101, Port Angeles.
