Ranger and the Re-Arrangers to play in Coyle

COYLE — Ranger and the Re-Arrangers returns to Concerts in the Woods in Coyle at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The band will perform in the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center at 923 Hazel Point Road in Coyle. Admission is by donation; suggested amount is $20.

“From rollicking and raucous to sweet and tender, the band’s music shifts easily between moods and styles, evoking the smoky spirit of old-time Paris cafes, and capturing the rowdy musical energy of Romani campsites,” said host Joe McKinstry, in a press release.

“At their performance in Coyle last April, the versatile ‘gypsy swing’ band from Seattle attracted the largest audience of the entire 2022 Concerts in the Woods series.”

Ranger Sciacca, a violinist originally from Bainbridge Island, and his guitar-playing father Michael Sciacca, formed the band in 2006 after a pilgrimage to the world’s foremost Hot Club Swing event, the Django Reinhardt festival in Samois Sur Seine, France.

“Concerts in the Woods attendees will be sure to hear Reinhardt’s influence all throughout the band’s Coyle show,” McKinstry said.

Ranger and the Rearrangers have released four CDs and perform over 100 shows each year at music festivals, concerts in the park, swing dances, weddings and events of all sorts, McKinstry said. Their upcoming show marks the fourth time the band has played Concerts in the Woods.
