Meaningful movies

PORT TOWNSEND — Meaningful Movies will screen “Suppressed: The Fight to Vote” at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The the film will be presented in the sanctuary at Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2333 San Juan Ave.

The 2019 documentary exposes voter suppression in the 2018 mid-term elections in Georgia and the threat it poses to elections across the nation.

PORT TOWNSEND/PORT HADLOCK

Farming film festival

The North Olympic Peninsula’s 2020 Farming Film Festival continues with free screenings of “Abundance on a Dry Land” at noon in Port Townsend and at 6 p.m. in Port Hadlock.

The Port Townsend screening will be at the Library Learning Center in the Charles Pink House, 1256 Lawrence St.

In Port Hadlock, the film will be shown in the Humphrey Room at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave. The 2015 documentary explores rainwater harvesting techniques designed to achieve sustainable food production in dry regions of the world.

Each screening will be followed by a discussion about the film that highlights local efforts.

CHIMACUM

Book club

CHIMACUM — The Planet Earth Academy of Creative Expression Book Club will discuss “Love Beyond Body, Space and Time” by Hope Nicholson from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday.

The club meets at Finnriver Cidery & Farm, 124 Center Road.

In March the club will discuss “Trinity Sight” by Jennifer Givhan.

SEQUIM

Backyard birds

SEQUIM — Christie Larsen will present “Creating Emotional Landscapes with a Backyard Wildlife Habitat” from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Larsen will address a meeting of the Sequim Prairie Garden Club in the clubhouse at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St.

The meeting, originally scheduled for Feb. 3, was postponed due to adverse weather and unsafe driving conditions.

Larsen, the co-owner of Wild Birds Unlimited, will discuss how to help the local bird population during the winter months; including providing high energy foods, how to give birds appropriate shelters and the importance of available water during freezing temperatures.

PORT ANGELES

Virtual reality

PORT ANGELES— A virtual reality session is set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.

The session is at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Since virtual reality (VR) has potential safety concerns, participants must be 13 years or older.

Adult participants must sign a release waiver, and each participant between 13 and 17 must have a parent sign a release waiver.

Waiver forms are available to pick up in advance at the library or at www.nols.org/virtual-reality.
