RainShadow Chorale ‘at the movies’ in three shows in Port Hadlock

PORT HADLOCK — In a departure from its typical repertoire, RainShadow Chorale’s spring program celebrates sun, love, fun, glitz and glamour in three performances of “RainShadow Chorale at the Movies.”

Presented by both the full choir and a wide variety of smaller ensembles and soloists, all of the songs have appeared in movies.

Two shows Saturday and one Sunday at the Old Alcohol Plant, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, will likely include many top favorites — as well as some surprises — from the 1930s to more recent productions.

Shows are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are by donation, $20 for adults and $18 for teens and children to age 10.

In an informal setting, along with the music, attendees will be able to enjoy popcorn, movie treats and drinks from a no-host bar.

Conducted by Artistic Director Rebecca Rottsolk, the show will feature the broad range of RainShadow talent.

“I’ve enjoyed having the opportunity to work with smaller ensembles,” said Rottsolk in a news release.

“It’s been fun sharing their enthusiasm and energy for something totally new for RainShadow.

And all the music will be performed at the high RainShadow standards our audience expects.”

Singers have been equally inspired by the music, forming small groups and preparing solos, with guidance from Rottsolk.

The Old Alcohol Plant is providing the venue in exchange for RainShadow Chorale’s musical support at fundraising events for Bayside Housing, a transitional housing facility adjacent to the hotel.

“We’re delighted to be able to share our music and at the same time provide support for a huge need in our community,” said Rottsolk.

Seating is limited at the venue and tickets have been selling fast. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended and may be purchased at Crossroads Music, 2100 Lawrence St., Pt. Townsend.

RainShadow Chorale is supported in part by the Pt. Townsend Arts Commission.
