FORKS — Here is the schedule of events for RainFest 2017, which will take place on two weekends, today through Sunday and April 28-29.
All events are free unless otherwise noted.
Today
• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Fabric of the Forest quilt classes, “On the Go Summer”; Department of Natural Resources conference room, 411 Tillicum Lane. Registration is recommended.
• Noon to 6 p.m. — Fabric of the Forest quilt show and vendors; Forks High School auxiliary gym, 261 Spartan Ave.
• Noon to 6 p.m. — RainFest book sale; Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave.
• 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. — Far West Art League show and sale; Rainforest Arts Center, 35 N. Forks Ave.
• 6 p.m. — Tod Marshall, Poet Laureate of Washington; library fireside space.
• 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. — Quilter’s Trunk Show; DNR conference room; $20.
Saturday
• All day — Free entry at Olympic National Park and at state parks in celebration of National Park Week.
• 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Art Space (art show and sale, demos, children’s art, cedar weaving); Rainforest Arts Center. Preregistration is required, with kits available. For questions, phone 360-374-9180.
• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Forks Open Aire Market; Umpqua Bank, 1020 S. Forks Ave., Forks.
• 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — Fabric of the Forest quilt show and vendors; Forks High School auxiliary gym.
• 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — RainFest book sale; library.
• 3 p.m. to midnight — Forks High School All-School Reunion (classes 1930-1999); Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchants Road; $20 per person.
• 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. — All-ages community dance with Loose Gravel (lessons at 6:30 p.m.); Rainforest Arts Center; by donation.
Sunday
• All day — Free entry at Olympic National Park in celebration of National Park Week.
• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Fabric of the Forest quilt show and vendors; Forks High School auxiliary gym.
• Noon to 4 p.m. — Fiber arts/spinning circle; Rainforest Arts Center.
• 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. — Children’s watercolor class; Rainforest Art Center. Must have preregistered.
Friday, April 28
• 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. — Welcome Washington Coast Cleanup (meet and take selfies with Redd and Fin the chum salmon, a giant sculpture); Native to Twilight parking lot, 10 S. Forks Ave., Forks.
Saturday, April 29
• Morning — Washington Coast Cleanup sponsored by CoastSavers. Register online at www.coastsavers.org.
• 9 a.m. to noon — Umbrella decorating hosted by West Olympic Council of the Arts (this year’s parade theme: undersea creatures); ICN Building, 71 Spartan Ave., Forks. Enter from the parking lot in the back.
• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Forks Open Aire Market; Umpqua Bank.
• 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Early season opening of John’s Beachcombing Museum, 143 Andersonville Ave., Forks. Entry is $5 per person, $4 for veterans and seniors, $2 for children ages 12-21 and free for those younger than 12.
• Noon to 1 p.m. — Undersea and Umbrella Parade; route runs from the ICN Building down Spartan Avenue to Native to Twilight, with treats available at the end. Wear creature costumes.
• 1 p.m. (tentative) — Children’s book giveaway hosted by the Clallam County Literacy Council; Native to Twilight parking lot.
• 1 p.m. — Undersea Chalk Art Extravaganza; sidewalks near the Native to Twilight parking lot and Rainforest Arts Center.
• 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. — Welcome Washington Coast Cleanup (meet and take selfies with Redd and Fin the chum salmon, a giant sculpture); Native to Twilight parking lot.
• 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. — Musical performance by What the Tide Washed In trio; Native to Twilight parking lot.
• 6 p.m. — Doors open for natural resources booths and displays; Rainforest Arts Center.
• 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. — River & Ocean Film Festival, with a bake sale to benefit CoastSavers; Rainforest Arts Center.
