‘Professional-Amateur Concert’ to benefit YEA Music

PORT LUDLOW — Port Ludlow Performing Arts will host a “Professional-Amateur Concert” at 1 p.m. Saturday to benefit YEA Music.

The concert is at the Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Lane.

Admission is free, but donations to support YEA Music are requested.

The concert features music professors Matthew Daline and Jennifer Chung along with local violinist Kristin Smith.

YEA Music sponsors summer music camps, awards scholarships for music lessons, loans out instruments to families and offers after-school music clinics during the school year.

“We started out mostly in Port Townsend, but now have been able to reach into most of Jefferson County to provide much-needed support to students and school programs wherever we can,” Music Director Daniel Ferland said. “We run our programs almost entirely on donations from local community members and local organizations. Our idea is that we want as many children as possible to have opportunities in music making regardless of their financial status.”

Matthew Daline is a violin and viola soloist and chamber musician.
