PORT ANGELES — Field Hall Gallery has unveiled a new exhibition, “Impressions,” which celebrates the beauty and diversity of human experience through the artistry of printmaking.
The curated collection at Field Hall at 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles, features printmakers with unique perspectives and diverse cultural backgrounds. It showcases the work of local artists working with printmaking: Thomas Connery, Monica Gutierrez-Quarto, Cody Hagen, Erika Harada, Nikki Jabbora-Barber and Eileen Jimenez.
“Impressions” will be on display through Feb. 4. The Field Hall Gallery is open to the public on Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The gallery also welcomes visitors one hour before most Field Hall Presents events.
“Printmaking, with its rich history and versatile techniques, serves as a perfect medium to explore the intricate threads of cultural heritage, personal narratives and the profound connection we share with nature,” said Curator Lindsey Shepherd.
“Take a journey through the visual narratives of these talented artists, where every impression tells a story, reveals a memory, and captures the essence of both individual and collective identities.”
At the opening reception last week, artists and show curator were present, along with Clallam County Poet Laureate Jaiden Dokken, who shared an ekphrastic poem inspired by the images in the exhibit.
The Field Hall Gallery opened on Aug. 25 with “sčáy ʔaʔ cə nəxʷsƛ̕áy̕əm ʔay̕c̕ɬtáyŋxʷ,” or “Creations by the Klallam People.” Curated by Roger Fernandes, this exhibition was a collaboration with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and featured nəxʷsƛ̕áy̕əm artists from the Lower Elwha Klallam, Jamestown S’Klallam and Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribes.
“After the success of the first gallery exhibition, we are so excited to continue sharing work from PNW artists whose creativity spans from nature to the profoundly personal,” said Steve Raider-Ginsburg, executive director of Field Arts & Events Hall.
