Pourhouse fundraiser to benefit PT housing program

PORT TOWNSEND — Olympic Neighbors will offer its fourth annual Summer Bash fundraiser from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Pourhouse Craft Beer Taproom and Bottle Shop for a day of live music and dancing.

A silent auction, with items from more than 75 local businesses ranging from $8 sterling silver rings to a week-long beach vacation in Mexico, is planned at the Pourhouse at 23231 Washington St.

Other big-ticket items include a guided hike for two in Denali National Forest, a stay at Sleepy Lady Resort in Leavenworth and a year membership to Evergreen Fitness.

The group also plans a ping-pong tournament with a trophy, food and raffle prizes. There is no entrance fee to participate and the event is 21 and up.

Local bands MerryMakers, Lowire, Port Townsend Village Drummers and Unexpected Brass Band will return this year to play sets during the event. Food from Barbarian Fine Cuisine and PhoFilling and drinks will be available for purchase.

Olympic Neighbors has set a goal to raise $25,000 this year, $7,000 above the $18,000 raised at last year’s Bash.

Proceeds from the Bash will fund Olympic Neighbors’ programs that provide community housing, health courses and inclusion for adults with developmental disabilities. Olympic Neighbors began providing supportive housing services to adults with developmental disabilities in early 2018.

Olympic Neighbors operates the only adult family home for this population in all of Jefferson County. An adult family home is a regular house in a regular neighborhood, which offers low rent, assistance with food and utilities, and 24-hour staff support for residents.

Olympic Neighbors’ adult family home is full and there is a waiting list of people who need this service.

Olympic Neighbors also hosts free monthly community events designed to bring together people with and without disabilities to build tolerance.

This year, Olympic Neighbors began providing a 20-week sexual health course for adults with developmental disabilities to help protect them from sexual assault.
